Energy Service Agreements
An Energy Services Agreement (ESA) can permit a building owner to retrofit a building without spending capital upfront.
An ESA packages energy efficiency as a service that can be paid for over time through savings.
It is an alternative to using equity or a traditional loan to retrofit a building.
In addition to providing a “no upfront cost” solution, an ESA can solve specific problems that often make investing in energy efficiency difficult for various types of real estate owners.
For building owners who have limited access to cost-effective private financing, NYCEEC can provide a loan to finance eligible energy efficiency retrofits, clean heat conversions and installations of certain distributed, on-site generation equipment and related activities.
